Are Wise Cat products allergen free?
Wise Cat products do not contain gluten; however, our products are made in a location where peanuts and soy have been used. In addition, while most herbal products are safe for most people, it is always possible that an individual may have an allergic reaction to a new herbal product. In some cases, a typically benign herb may provoke an allergic response. For example, chamomile is in the same family as ragweed. If you have a severe allergy to ragweed, you may want to avoid chamomile. If you have questions about potential allergies, please contact us. We’ll be happy to answer questions. You will also want to discuss these concerns with your primary care provider.
Are Wise Cat products safe during pregnancy and for nursing mothers?
All use of herbal products during pregnancy and while breastfeeding should be under the supervision of a licensed medical professional.
Are herbal products a good substitute for pharmaceuticals and modern health care?
While many choose to use herbal products to treat a variety of health concerns, we at Wise Cat Apothecary believe that herbs are best used to support modern medical practices rather than replace them. In addition, we always recommend that you talk with your primary care provider before using herbal products to treat a new or existing condition.
Wise Cat Apothecary, LLC.'s products are not reviewed by the FDA. Our products are not intended to prevent, cure, or treat any illness or diseases. All claims made are based on personal experience, product testing, and customer anecdotes. Always check with your health care provider before using herbs or herbal products if you have a known medical condition or if you are pregnant or nursing. Wise Cat Apothecary is not responsible for accidents, misuse, or adverse reactions.
Where do you source your ingredients?
Currently, the majority of the herbs we use are sourced through Frontier Co-op with some coming from Mountain Rose Herbs. We purchase the majority of the oils (olive oil, apricot kernel, and jojoba), vegetable glycerin, rose water, and aloe vera gel from Bulk Apothecary. While we are attempting to grow some of the herbs we use, the ongoing drought in Oklahoma has made it difficult to grow a number of herbs. Those that are surviving the heat and drought are not of good quality, so we have chosen not to use them in our preparations for the 2022-2023 season. When possible, we purchase herbs from local farmers and wildcraft the more pesky "weeds" that are healthy and annoying to the larger public--as long as we can ensure those "weeds" are free from pesticides and herbicides.
