Ginger Turmeric Tea

Description

The combination of ginger and turmeric has become increasingly popular as we learn more about the potential health benefits of these spicy roots. People typically turn to this duo for their anti-inflammatory properties. However, both herbs may also support digestive and immune system health. Furthermore, moderate amounts of ginger may reduce menstrual pain, while turmeric may support heart health. We have added cinnamon to this blend to improve flavor with the added benefit of additional digestive and menstrual support. Because ginger, turmeric, and cinnamon are all warming herbs, we have  included holy basil for its cooling and adaptogenic properties. Furthermore, holy basil may reduce stress levels, while supporting digestion and concentration.*  This lovely tea has warm, earthy flavors with the cinnamon and ginger flavors well-balanced so neither is over-powering.

Because of the high concentration of turmeric in this tea, we strongly suggest limiting consumption to 1 cup daily.

How to prepare: We have used cut and sliced ginger and turmeric root to maintain a higher concentration of oils. As such to this tea, you will need to use the decoction method rather than the typical infusion method. To decoct this tea, you will place 1 tbsp per 8 oz cup into boiling water and simmer, covered, for 15 minutes. Remove from heat, leaving covered, and allow to steep for 1 hour. Remove the herbs from the tea and reheat or drink iced. Because decoction takes some time, you may find it more convenient to make a several cups at one time, refrigerating the unused portion for up to 4-5 days, and reheating the tea (or drinking iced) as needed.

We package Ginger Turmeric Tea in a 4 oz. tin which gives about 16 servings. We also offer Ginger Turmeric Tea in a fully compostable 12 oz. bulk bag which gives about 45 servings.
